Portorož entdecken… Explore Portorož

Destinations

Active-Retreats bietet 4 Hotels in Portorož | hier unsere Favoriten:

  • Hotel Vile Park****:
  • Remisens Premium Hotel Metropol*****:

Top 10 Summer Favourites

Things to do

The Ziller Valley is a spectacular wonderland during the summer months and with an abundance of activities, attractions and tasty local delicacies, it can be difficult to know where to start! Here is a list of our Top 10 Summer Favourites to help you make the most of your time spent in paradise…

1. Summer Cable Cars – The Zillertal is home to 11 cable cars, allowing you to experience breathtaking views and high altitude mountain trails. The Ahorn cable car in Mayrhofen is Austria’s largest reversible rope way and transports up to 160 people, 2000m above sea level in only 6.5 minutes. For an entirely unique experience we also recommend the Ramsberg lift in Ramsau – a traditional 1-man chair, complete with cosy blankets for a chilly day!

Paragliding

2. Paragliding – If you are looking a more adrenaline fueled way to experience the valley, then paragliding may just be the activity for you! Glide effortlessly over the mountains and enjoy being literally as free as a bird. An experience like no other and undoubtedly a must-do during your stay.

3. Tiroler Gröstl – A hearty dish of fried potato, bacon and onion served with a fried egg on top. This tasty dish is perfect for refueling during an active day on the mountain.

Stilluptal

4. Stillup Valley – This private side valley gives you the chance to witness some of the untouched natural beauty of the region. Accessible from Mayrhofen, shuttle buses are running throughout the day to transport you to Mayrhofen’s best kept secret. The Stillup Valley is also a popular spot for cycling with many natural waterfalls and alpine wildlife to spot along the way. Take a well-earned break at the Stilluperhaus mountain hut where you can enjoy a slice of homemade cake and on special days, relax to the sound of Grandpa Herbert playing the harp.

5. Arena Coaster –  The alpine roller coaster in Zell am Ziller is great fun for all the family. With twists, steep curves and loops – we recommend you let your Tiroler Gröstl settle first!

6. ErlebnisSennerei – Experience the production process of local milk and cheese from the Zillertal. The interactive tour is informative and also fun for children who can even learn about milking a cow. Join the locals at the dairy on a Friday during the summer months for the “Music with Cheese” afternoon festival where you have a chance to try the local produce and experience the traditional Zillertal folk music.

7. Climbing – The fixed rope courses are ideal for those who are looking for a more challenging way to explore the valley. Plenty of marked routes with varying difficulty levels allow everyone to get involved in the action and after the cost of equipment hire – it’s absolutely free!

Zillertalbahn

8. Steam Train – Climb aboard the nostalgic Zillertalbahn which runs the entire length of the valley from Jenbach to Mayrhofen. Travel in style inside the unique Swarovski crystal carriage and enjoy the spectacular scenery along the way.

9. Cycling & Mountain Biking – Explore the wonders of the Zillertal on two wheels with over 1400km of trails to explore, from single trails on the mountain accessible via the cable cars or the more gentle Zillertal Promenade from Jenbach to Mayrhofen.

10. Hintertux Glacier – Take the cable car to the highest point in the valley to experience the majestic Hintertux Glacier. Open 365 days of the year, the glacier is a popular place for skiers and snowboarders both during the winter and summer months and nature enthusiasts alike. At 3,250m above sea level, you can enjoy panoramic views of the valley or even visit the breathtaking Nature’s Ice Palace with frozen waterfalls and a glacial lake.

new beginnings.

About Us

Setting up a new company, they said, is never easy and they (mainly our friends, family and work colleagues) were absolutely right but it is a dream of ours that through passion and determination we have managed to turn into a reality. Don’t get us wrong, it is still very a much an ongoing work in progress but one that is growing and emerging every day. Not long ago, our ideas came to life and E-Active Retreats – was born, offering exhilarating mountain escapes in the beautiful setting of the Austrian Alps. The adventure starts here…

Michael was born in the Ziller Valley in Austria’s Tirol region and grew up in the Hotel Schrofenblick. He quickly learnt every aspect of the operational running of the hotel and took on the role of Hotel Manager at a young age. His passion and expertise lie within the Hotel industry – improving the services for both hoteliers and their customers.

Lynsey inadvertently fell in love with Austria at the age of 5, whilst enjoying the first of many family ski holidays. With her life-long dream being to run her own business, Lynsey left Scotland behind to pursue a self-styled apprenticeship in the travel industry – beginning as a hotel cleaner, moving onto managing a small chalet, representing various U.K. based tour operators and working as a specialised tour guide. Her passion and expertise lie within the U.K. travel market – changing the way in which holidays are traditionally offered and booked.

We want to share our love for the Austrian Alps and the wealth of activities which are available both in the winter and the summer. We have combined our favourite into packages to create an easy and affordable way to experience the full highlights of a mountain lifestyle in a much shorter time frame. From skiing to paragliding, climbing and mountain biking – there really is something for everyone to enjoy and if these activities don’t take your fancy, we invite you to create your own package tailored to your requirements – you are on holiday after all!

Until the next adventure,

Mike & Lynsey
